There are a ton of gift choices on and off line.

To make gift giving easier, you should consider the following factors to lock in the perfect gift for someone special.

1. The Recipient's Interest

You should think about the hobbies and activities they enjoy. Do they enjoy morning coffee? Do they enjoy weekend hikes?

You should also consider their tastes and preferences. Do they like red or blue? Do they like minimal designs? Are they into a healthy lifestyle?

If you know their interest(s), you can already narrow down your search to only the things they are passionate about and eliminate things they don't care about.

Eliminating the things they dislike will help you avoid giving inappropriate and offensive gifts.

2. The Gift-Giving Occasion

Some occasions are more special than others. For instance, a first birthay, a lady's 18th birthday, a 50th wedding anniversay, weddings, and more. Significant milestone occasions will have different expectations.

Current life situation of the recipient should also be considered. You should reconsider giving an Asian Cruise Tour to a recipient who is nursing a fractured leg. Or giving a student who is a week away from board exams a kpop concert ticket in a neighboring country.

3. The Value of the Gift and Your Own Budget

You should consider your own budget even before you start your gift shopping.

Gifts don't need to be expensive. Don't pressure yourself. A thoughtful gift will be much appreciated too.

Also, an overly expensive gift may burden the recipient who will soon reciprocate the gifter.

However, if gift giving is part of your love language, and you have the greatest gift idea of all time, then feel free to spend as much as you want.

4. To Buy or To DIY

Ask yourself if you are going to buy or DIY your gift.

If buying, ask yourselkf again if you are buying online of from a physical store. In both cases, you need to consider your time and convinience.

Online shopping allows you to browse more products in a few hours vs going around physical stores for a whole day. If you are shopping online, consider doing it a month in advance from the occasion, to give time for shipping and returns, if need be.

DIY gifts also require time to gather everything you need and more time to actually work on your DIY gift project so it's important to plan in advance ahead of the occasion.
